Cruising Chair Tom Batty & Fleet Captain Jim Green cordially invite all MYC, BucYC & FYC sailors to join us for our inaugural cruise to the beautiful, unspoiled, virtually undeveloped waters of Dog River, AL.

Sailing directions to Dog River will be available upon request.

We’ll depart after lunch on Saturday (so you can sleep in and pack light) and sail up Dog River (north, away from the hustle & bustle of marina life) until we run out of water or otherwise locate a suitable spot for the fleet, then drop hook for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.  The adventurous will prepare dinner and spend the night, sailing for home on Sunday.  Those who can’t handle two back-to-back days of bliss are free to depart at will but will be required to take malcontents with them.

Being the equal opportunity boating Club that we are, members who own motor yachts are welcome to join us.  If you fall into this category, kindly juice up your generator and bring your blender.

If the weather permits Fleet Captain Jim Green might alter the sail plan to include an afternoon cruise on Mobile Bay and/or an anchorage off delightful Gaillard Island.

To join the cruise, just show up.  Updates and additional information will be posted at MYC. For questions or comment contact Tom Batty at 251-421-5829 or Jim Green at 251-533-7755.

Due to the low-pressure format of this cruise, day-of decisions regarding sail plan and anchorage location will be communicated via VHF channel 68, smoke signals or signal flags, at the sole discretion of Fleet Captain Jim Green.
